Indeed it is Japanese!

This year we add a little spice into our year end sale campaign, so we decided on Japanese!

On 25 Dec 2014, we will be organising the 1st ever FUKUBUKURO in Malaysia at HiDY boutique store located at:-

fuku day

So what is FUKUBUKURO?

FUKUBUKURO in brief means “lucky bag” or “fortune in leftovers bag”. It is a new year custom celebrated by the Japanese to let go of old stocks and it could bring luck and happiness to the purchaser. These bags will be filled up with items and will be sold at a super discounted price. You don’t know what’s hidden inside the bag, it is a mystery. Which makes it sooo much fun!

Why on earth did I pick Japanese when half of my life was in Europe?

My sister in law, she has totally inspired me to do it! She’s the GM of the company and has lived in Japan for ohhh soo many years!! I thought, perhaps we can bring a little bit of Japan to our retail culture and perhaps it will remind her of her glorious university years. At least a bit. *grin*

With us at HiDY; http://www.hidy.com.my/  and CIPELA Shoes; http://cipelashoes.com/ , it is a bit tricky as we have sizes to play with. So, we have decided to twist here and there so you will still get the best of FUKUBUKURO that day! We have prepared a total of 110 bags, and 10 super lucky envelopes. These 110 bags will be sold at the value of RM50, RM80, RM100, RM150 and RM200. What’s inside will be determined according to our collections in HiDY and CIPELA Shoes.

For example, you may find 2 pieces of these HiDY Essence in the bag of RM50 :-

You may also find a mixture of HiDY Essence and HiDY Fusion in a bag of RM80 :-

The FUKUBUKURO bags of RM100, RM150 and RM200 may contain a few premium items like, HiDY Exclusive, with a mixture of HiDY Traditional, some may have a pair of handcrafted CIPELA Shoes with an exclusive piece of HiDY

All depend to your luck that day!

We can only promise you that, there will be a few items in the bag and the price you pay for FUKUBUKURO is totally worth it!

Not to worry, we have indicated the sizes on each of the bag, and on Thursday we’ll make sure it’s easy for your to shop 🙂

What will be on that 10 SUPER Lucky envelopes?

We have something super fun for you. These Super Lucky envelopes are priced at RM200. I can’t spill the bean too much, but all I can only say that, you can choose 😉 old stock? new stock? new designs? what??? I don’t know!!

So, did I get you all excited? 😀

We believe our FUKUBUKURO will definitely bring you luck and fortune to kick start your 2015. So don’t miss the chance to grab a bag on 25 Dec 2014, this Thursday at HiDY store. We will start selling at 11 am, and bags will be released every 2 hours. We’ll see how it goes that day!

I am too excited for this. See you all on Thursday 11am.

BEE Award 2014 – CIPELA shoes

BEE Award 2014 – CIPELA shoes

When I return home after living abroad for years, I found it hard to find good leather and long lasting shoes in Malaysia, that is locally made. I was inspired to create high quality shoes like I saw in Italy, Bosnia and Turkey. Not necessarily at super high price tags but more to mid-range label with comfort and style like the luxury labels. Hence, I founded CIPELA shoes. The word CIPELA carries the meaning for shoes, in Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian. The logo itself is inspired by the shape of a shoe. I hope, some of you have realised it by now 🙂

I started my business some 3 years ago, merely from facebook page then to an e-commerce website (cipelashoes.com and hidy.com.my) and finally this year we launched HiDY physical store with a corner area for CIPELA shoes at Dataran Wangsa Melawati.

I wanted to go slow and steady as I needed to make sure my production is in place, the team is ready to supply, and other technical things are properly installed.

Alhamdulillah, after a few years we have received orders from Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Turkey, Germany and some other parts of Europe. All through the power of broadband, social medias and word of mouth. We are still a baby, still so new in the market, we would like to improve our services and products to higher standards of course. There’s always space for improvement and enhancements when you are a start-up company. Many thanks to our followers, customers, family and friends for your never ending support and constructive feedback, we do take notes on your comments.

BEE stands for Broadband Empowered Entrepreneur. It’s an award by Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission.

I was very fortunate to have won the award let alone, be nominated along with other more established broadband entrepreneurs.

On behalf of the company, I am truly honoured and humbled for this experience, I would like to thank MCMC from the bottom of my heart to have chosen us for this prestige award.

Here’s some pictures from the night I attended with my team. Fun times ahead ladies!

With fellow BEE Award recipients, gorgeous headband designers; Sereni & Shentel, Ba’kelalan Green Tourism – Borneomawa; Edwin and First Online Digital book E-sentral; Khairil.

Broadband Empowered Entreprenuer Award ( BEE Award 2014) – CIPELA Shoes

It’s been months since I last blogged. It feels good to have these few hours to write before I call it a night.

I had a few life changing experiences the past few months, and it has opened my eyes to see different perspectives on life. Life, friendship, relationship and businesses all together. They (the elderly) would always say, “God has better plans for you”, “Never give up, God will never give you anything you can’t handle, so chin up”… oh well, I agree and I think, “C’est la vie, nothing is permanent so let’s move on”

Starting up my own business was not as easy as what people perceive. But what people think does not matter, so life goes on for me. I remember growing up, I wondered where will I be when I’m 25? 🙂 Alhamdulillah, I think, I can’t be anywhere better than where I am today. I am back in Malaysia, back with family and close friends again. Though I do wish, I could pack some of my friends abroad with me but then life would be too perfect right? haha! And hey, I have my very own business, shukur alhamdulillah. It’s like a dream.

Growing up, I used to listen to Malaysian singers such as Ella, Sheila Majid, Ziana Zain, Ning Baizura, to name a few lah. I think, their songs really kept me feeling all Malaysian wherever I travel. And as I migrated to Bosnia Herzegovina, I was hooked on Dino Merlin, Nina Badric and Gulben Ergen, Tarkan, Mustafa Sandal BIG TIME. I could play them on and on and on until I could memorise their lyrics and eventually speak their languages fluently. I mean, come one, what other best way to learn new languages if not though their songs, right?? As I write this entry, I have these songs in the background playing. I’m sure when you hear them you’ll reminisce about good times you have had. It has beautiful lyrics ( and yes, I always look at lyrics when I like a song…you know, always trying to relate with what ever I am going through in life 🙂

Here’s some of the songs, they painted a thousand memories for me.

ELLA – Layar Impian

Jika mimpi masa silam
Bisa kusimpan dalam kaca
Jadi perhiasan
Pasti aku abadikan
Zaman riang kanak-kanak
Pabila hujan mengundang
Suasana bahagia
Dalam hidup yang seindah
Mimpi yang tidak pernah
Melukakan perasaan…

Tapi kini bila dewasa
Aku mula sedar betapa mimpi
Hanyalah suatu permainan
Jiwa insan dalam kesepian

Jika mimpi cinta kita
Bisa kuzahirkan
Jadi lukisan yang menarik
Pasti aku sentosakan
Malam pesta bila engkau
Lafazkan janji dan memelukku
Sepanjang tarian
Hingga pipi aku terasa
Basah dalam tangisan
Yang penuh kesyukuran…

DINO MERLIN- Da sutis (to be silent)

Svima reci da sam tu…… tell everyone that I’m here
neka vide, neka čuju… let them see, let them hear
šta mi tijelo osjeća… what my body feels
neku novu struju…. some new kind of current

Slijepa za moju čežnju…. blind for my longing
samo noćas nemoj biti to…. only tonight don’t be like it
ja znam da ti možeš puno bolje…. i know you can do much better
naravno da znam ja to…. of course i know that

Dobro je kad u životu…. its good when in life
za nesto se boriš….. for something you fight
rukama stvoriš…. create with your hands
dobro je kad u životu…. its good when in life
nekoga voliš, neko te voli…. you love somebody, and somebody loves you
Dobro je kad u životu…. its good when in life
neko te sluti, ti nekoga slutiš…. somebody yearns for you, and you yearn for that somebody
ali je najbolje kad u životu… but it is best when in life
imaš nekog s kim možeš… you have someone with whom you can
ovako da šutiš…. be silent like this

Ne slaže se calendar… the calendar doesn’t match
moga doba i tvoga tijela… of my age and your body
ne idu ni s godinama tvojim… they don’t even go with your years
ove bore i kosa bijela…. these wrinkles and white hair.
Zatvori mi kapke ti… close your eyelids for me
usnama sklopljenim u jednu…. lips folded into one
ja odavno ne znam kuda… I for a long time don’t know where
odlaze voljeni kad krenu… loved ones go when they leave

Nice songs right? What’s your favourite songs from your past?

The Journey of Superb Teraju BizPitch Season 1 – Nur Hidayah Hassan

The Journey of Superb Teraju BizPitch Season 1 – Nur Hidayah Hassan

It has been years since I last blogged about anything. I thought this is probably the best time to do so. To update something, share something that may be informational or inspirational to others. First of all, I have a lot to tell and to share as a young entrepreneur trying to juggle things and to make sure ends meet. This is just a summary of what I’ve been up to.

Recently, I was shortlisted amongst the 1800 applicants in Malaysia for the Superb Teraju BizPitch worth RM500k Business grants for Start-up and Young Entrepreneur with Innovative and Creative ideas. This initiative was launched by our Prime Minister; Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak early this year and I quickly prepared my proposal and submit it.

Alhamdulillah, I was shortlisted and went through an amazing coaching and mentoring program! I met the other shortlisted candidates and oh boy, I must admit, everyone was pretty awesome at what they do and their projects sounded so promising and super-ultraman-like projects hehe! Seriously, all were “SUPERB” Projects about to launch in the market or have been around in the market for less than 3 years of operations. I’m so proud to have met them all and listened to their pitches during coaching sessions.

You see, TERAJU had put us in sort-a “boot camp” somewhere in KL, we were mentored and coached by fantastic leaders and Alhamdulillah, I went through Semi-finals, and passed to Finals! All in 7 days period! Nerve wrecking and heartbeated faster than ever, bak kata pepatah melayu; “Mandi tak basah, Makan tak kenyang, tidur tak lena” and I probably can’t remember if there was a night during that period I could sleep without waking up at night! I was too nervous for the next day and the real “Pitching Session”. No, not because I was scared, I know my business inside-out, this is my ball game, I know my production, my retail, my competitors and my numbers. But I was nervous of who will be the judges? What would the questions be? Something outside my control!!! A bit ridiculous but can’t help it. We were given 5-minutes to pitch our ideas and 10-minutes for Q&A session with the judges. During the finals, Q&A session was reduced to 5-minutes. Ggggrrrr!! How to tell your vision, mission and your financial projections within that period of time? Lord, help! The only thing I could think of was to pray to God to ease my process and let them judges ask funny easy questions and let Him decide what is best for me 🙂 because, I know, for sure I had prepared my best and pitched the best I could.

Here are some of the pictures taken during coaching and mentoring session and Young Entrepreneur Congress Malaysia recently with Top 55 Superb Teraju BizPitch candidates.
(We were split into groups hence you see less people here)

Here’s 5 for RM500,000 for 5-minutes. 1 minute worth RM100,000

So, Semi- Finalists judges were from Government Agencies like; Cradle Funds, MavCap, MTDC, MDec, MyCreative Ventures and Modal Perdana. And Finalists judges were Top Bumiputera Businessmen in Malaysia, to name a few, Y.Bhg Datuk Kamaruddin Meranun of AirAsia, Y.Bhg Dato Wira Haji Ameer Ali Mydin of MYDIN, Y.Bhg Dr Jamal Yusof of OMNI Petromaritime, Y.Bhg Datuk Awang Buhtamam of Malays Chambers of Commerce Malaysia and Y.Bhg Mr Husni Salleh, CEO of TERAJU was also on board.

You see, I started my business from scratch. It was just a talk, a dream. I started bit by bit, from bedroom to bazaars and more bazaars then showroom to owning my own production to now, where I am today. Now, I can actually go full force on it, without hick-ups insya Allah. I have learned so much over these past few years that, if somethings are not happening the way that you wanted it to be, it is probably because God has better plans for you. Always be positive and surround yourself with positivity and positive energy will surround you.

Pictures from Semi Finals to Finals:-

Ah-ma-zing experience! The finalists were called to PM Office recently, and the winners were then announced!

Result Day drama;-

3 weeks after. The day PM announced the winners of Superb Teraju Bizpitch Season 1, I was down with a flu! My head was heavy, temperature was high and stomach was upset the whole day. But OK Alhamdulillah, I managed to sort morning meetings then prepared to go to PM office. Formally dressed and face powdered! And paired with super gorgeous shoes to boost up my spirit, as always!

When the host announced my name, I felt so calm, so surreal, maybe the drugs I was taking to tackle my flu helped too haha, but I remember telling myself to stay calm regardless win or lose. I’m usually a bubbly person but that day I was extra quiet and calm. I walked to the PM, he congratulated me, passed me my framed certificate, and told me, “show-off your shoes, they want to see it” …. I, automatically posed and pulled up a bit of my pants so the media can see my shoes. It felt like a good 2-minutes of fame. Too many media / paparazzi Hahaha! Here’s some pictures to share:-

And yes, I am the Founder and the Creative Director of CIPELA Shoes and Accessories. ( CIPELA ) Get your pair of CIPELA shoes now, before the value escalates. Hahaha! Cheers! XD

So, I received my framed certificate, and I am truly blessed and honoured to have been chosen and went through this SUPERB Teraju coaching and mentoring session and won the Superb BizPitch awards. Shukur, Alhamdulillah. Next is getting the paperwork and planning done!

I believe that dreams do come true. With determination and perseverance they will come true. Success doesn’t come over night, and success doesn’t come rolling off to your feet, we have to find by working towards it. I am still working hard, keep working towards my destination, and Insya Allah, one day, I will taste the sweetness of the fruit from seeds that I have planted. With this financial assistance, with this Award, it will allow me to bring my brand to another height, Insya Allah. I am looking forward and I can’t wait to make more shoes and designs.

To my family esp. my parents; Mak, Ayah, thank you for all your guidance, your tough love, thank you for the values you have taught me, thank you for teaching me the value of money, appreciation and gratefulness. The word “thank you” can take you an extra mile indeed. Thank you for allowing me to make mistakes, to fall, and let me find my feet again and start crawling again, most of all Thank you God, for gifted me the best parents in the world! They have brought me up so well. May they live healthily and be blessed with happiness and barakah. I hope one day, I will be as good parent as they are to my children. Ameen.

To my loved ones; friends, family, mentors, clients turned close friends, those who have supported me from Day 1, thank you for your trust in me, your never ending support and motivations, my apologies if I ever do wrong to you, keep me in your prayers, I have a lot to learn and improve myself along the way, and I am glad and forever grateful I have the circle of people to look up to. Thank you for having me in your life.

Sunday booze

Work and life have been rather hectic lately. From time to time, I like to sit by myself have a cup of tea or coffee and reflect on things. Today, was the time. I escaped for an hour to enjoy quality-me-time. I needed it. Relax, calm down a bit, and write or just read. Mostly think and day dream.

When I get this leisure time, I usually write to those who have left their footprints in my heart. One of the people I wrote to was my sensei. I have gone through ups and downs throughout the process of starting up my business and she has seen it all. Well, from the stories I’ve been feeding her of course, she’s really ‘ancient’ like that with this IT google thingy. And my close friends and family are my pillar of strength really. Without them, I am not sure how I could manage all the work and things I do.

Some replied with “awwws” “shukur” or more motivational supports. Food for soul kinda reply. But this sensei of mine, she’s really a gem.

Her reply was in a series of illustrated pictures and short write-ups

1. I’ve been bugging her to get the iphone5. So she sent me this to make me feel guilty.

2. I went through some crazy period recently; financially draining, mentally and physically deranged by the experience. So she sent me this;

3. Told me this;

4. Reminded me to be good with my diet regime (hahahha)

5. Listen to elder/ wiser people advices

6. And always to remember that…

7. And never feel lonely or walk alone in life because she’ll always be there

8. Last but not least

Hahahahah I laughed cried and laughed again so much!! Rereading the email. So funny so touchy. I am really blessed to have met her in my life. God ma, you rock! Age is only a number. Or maybe two. Lol

Mystery of life

God doesn’t give you every thing in this life. He gives you happiness for a minute then he gives you sorrows for 5 minutes, he gives you success but he takes away your leisures he gives you wealth but then he takes away the health, he gives you health but no wealth to enjoy the life but he surely will give u something so that you can appreciate something in this life…

Small little things

I used to write to famous bloggers, vloggers and upcoming artists before. Just a short msg of how they have inspired me to improve myself and conveyed my support to their amazing art work or writings. BUT never once did I get a reply. Not that I care much, they’re probably too busy doing amazing things and know that they are still highly in demand regardless what.

HOWEVER, tonight is different. I stumbled upon one of my much loved, much appreciated TV personality, writer and poet; Ras Adiba Radzi ‘s personal facebook.

Immediately, I clicked the button msg and wrote my way to her. Again, nothing crazy or stalker-ish msg. Just few long words of appreciation towards her contribution to the nation, how she has inspired many women, and most of all how she has inspired me to become a better person and not to take things for granted. Just a brief introduction my friends, she was one of the top TV presenters back in late 1990s before she injured herself in a car accident and became paraplegic/ paralysed from waist below. I was merely 8 or 9 years old back then. I vividly remember reading about her stories, her health progress and mostly her hardship adapting to her new life. She went through so much at one point, I stopped reading about her. Because, it was just too hard to read anymore. In my heart that time, I could just pray that she gets better soon and that Allah makes it easy for her. But then, one day I heard her reciting poems with Dato A.Samad Said at an event, my heart just stopped, it was beautiful. (OK, I’ve always had a thing for literature and poetry, I just never pursue it as a degree or career) so, from time to time I did read about her and follow her progress again. She did amazing things!!! I am so jealous now. Haha. It makes me wanna do at least half of the things she did!! She wrote novels, poems, performs in theatre, joined Paralympics, sharp shooters, If I am not mistaken she is a professional swimmer too! Oh yeah, still rocking the TV and News presenter. One super-multi tasked this woman.

Anyhow, back to that msg I wrote to her earlier! Just within few minutes, I received a reply back from her! It was sooooo unexpected! I swear, I was jumping off my bed as I read her reply. I couldn’t believe my eyes that she wrote back, with about the same length as I wrote to her. Ok, maybe half the length, but that was still looong! She was so humbled with the msg I wrote to her, we did exchanged a few msgs over facebook msg. Unbelievable! 🙂

I wrote to Ras Adiba Radzi, and received a reply. It is Ras Adiba Radzi. Not a fake one. I can feel it from her writing.

I surely will sleep with a smile tonight.

Ps: you can follow her too, on facebook. Here’s the link;-
